About

Signalis Health is the company behind Tract, an IBD & IBS tracker.

Usman, founder of Signalis Health

Hi, I'm Usman

I have Crohn's disease. Getting diagnosed took me through a hospital, a gastroenterologist, a rheumatologist, and a neurologist, and they all asked the same kinds of questions: when did this start, how often does it happen, is it worse than last time.

I tried keeping track in notes and spreadsheets, and it kept falling apart. I'd blank on questions about the previous day, let alone the previous three months.

I'm a software developer, so I did the obvious thing and built an app.

The approach

Why Tract is skeptical on purpose

I studied Biology and Medical Sciences at Western University. My favourite courses, medical biophysics and bioinformatics, were mostly about how easy it is to fool yourself with data. Small datasets are full of convincing coincidences.

Tract is built around that. It shows you patterns in what you log, and how much data sits behind each one. When there isn't enough data to say anything, Tract says so. And the call on what's actually a trigger is always yours.

Chronic illness comes with enough uncertainty. An app shouldn't add more.

How it's made

Built with the community

I launched Tract in 2025 and posted it to r/IBD to see if it was useful to anyone besides me. The feedback changed the app. Ostomy tracking, IBS and FODMAP support, microscopic colitis support, reflux logging: all of it exists because someone asked for it.

That hasn't changed. If Tract is missing something you need, email me. I read everything.
